The amount of time and resources we spend on trimming, tucking, plucking and changing our natural appearance to fit into the ideal of what someone else has told us it’s supposed to be is not only unbelievably time and energy-consuming. It’s also consistently subtly telling ourselves that we are not beautiful, acceptable and lovable the way we’ve been made. And this is a message that we’re giving our children. Going natural to yourself takes a huge psychological leap, and it’s one of the most profound ways to create a sense of love and acceptance for yourself and, inadvertently, therefore, others.
