I am sure you know that most of us at some time experience a sense of anxiety, nervousness, hopelessness or even dread. Since Covid and lockdowns, the majority of us now understand that
Most of us walk through our lives at best, feeling there must be more than this. And at worst, scared or nervous that we are somehow missing the point of this one precious life.
Knowing that we should be feeling more joy, connection and gratitude. Wanting to feel more love and connection to our partners, more meaning and fulfilment from our work. To find and be loved by that special someone. Or to simply find a more consistent sense of peace and contentment.
But how are we supposed to feel calm and joyful in a world that isn’t safe? Where people betray, disasters occur and illness and aging are a part of life?
For millennia our ancestors knew what we are starting to now ‘prove’ with science. That there is a coherent organising life force that animates life, which IS peace, contentment, healing and love.
Sadly our modern culture has ventured so far away from this now that we find ourselves worshipping on the altar of the small self. With the rise of social media and the capacity for all to be ‘famous.’ With the increase of ‘self-help’, and the idea that ‘I can have everything I want‘.
We have stopped looking to a greater Source, and in placing ourselves at the center of our universe, we have disconnected from that unconditional loving force that holds and nurtures us. Instead we flail about trying to do it all on our own.
We’ve been told that all the answers lay within, to follow our heart and bliss. But this leaves us utterly alone and isolated. When there is a much greater source of wisdom, an infinite field of loving intelligence readily available to love, heal and guide us. When we connect to this, we realise it has always been there and that we are never alone.
We all carry wounds and brokenness from our past, and sometimes we need to reach out and have another human being counsel us, help us to make new choices, and even create new habits and behaviours. But the true healing or being made whole again comes from knowing the ultimate Source.
This is why Transpersonal Counselling helps calm and quiet the nervous system and mind. It goes beyond the personal, connecting us to our greater Source/Spirit, God.
